SENIOR MEMORIES OF GRHS CLASS OF 61

Among out many "firsts" were the initiation of the new Junior High, the new shop building and the new West Wing. We were the first to take part in the new German, Spanish and Current Affairs clubs. We were the first to have a comtemporary theme for our annual. We were the first class to have seven cheerleaders on our "A" squad and a wrestling team that placed second in the state.

We also experienced a few "lasts". We were the last class to have a Freshman picnic. Why?...Well...we may be the last class to have certain "other" parties too.

We were very active in our Senior year. All our athletic teams excelled. Although our basketball team did not win the IRC Championship, it went down fighting. Our undefeated football team was third in the state. We all think they were the best! The choir had a chance to travel. An overnight stay at the co-ed buildings at the U was unforgettable. The band played in Winnipeg again this year. Instead of washing cars as in our Junior year, many members of the Senior Class washed windows, signs and buildings. (Was that a painting party????)

Other memories of the Senior year were the class banquet, Baccalaureate, "Shangrila" (put on by our friends, the class of '62. And the most wished for day---GRADUATION!

(The above was copied from our 1961 "Tomahawk")

The 2005 party/reunion was fantastic. Friday was a lot of fun, as usual. Saturday at Jim and Sandi Beier's was awesome. A prime Rib dinner followed by fireworks and Karaoke. Mary Miltich dancing while Molly played her keyboard was a kick. Just sitting around the fire and talking about past times and reunions was the best. Sunday we had a fantastic brunch provided by Dawnita Flinck (Tootsie) at her cafe at the airport. At Brunch we completed the plans for our 45 Reunion in September 2006.

Remember when the big decision was where you were going to hang out, the Goalpost, Mickey's, the Marlon, Batch's Pizza or the Broaster. Remember the Friday night dances at the Village Hall and the Bovey dances on Saturday? Where did the time go? Have 45 years passed by already?

These yearly get-togethers have a way of making time stand still for a few days each year. Our faces may have changed, our bodies may have changed and our hair has definately changed but the class of 61's spirit has remained unchanged.

"May the party never end"
